About Me

My name's MayaJoy.

When this all started:

• I graduated from Notre Dame in May 2012 (Go Irish!).

• In June of 2012, I found out I needed surgery to repair a congenital heart defect.
• On August 1, 2012, I underwent open heart surgery at Phoenix Children's Hospital.

I started this blog to chronicle my time as a heart patient, 

and I haven't stopped blogging since!

Now: 

• In December of 2015, I graduated with my BSN from Johns Hopkins University.
• I am a nurse at a children's hospital in the Cardiac ICU. I love that I get to walk with patients through their own journeys!
• I also love that my best friend/ Twisted Sister/ the Meredith to my Cristina, works two floors above me as a neuroscience nurse.

Fun Facts: 
-I love fun facts, except not when they're forced (e.g., Two Truths and a Lie = ugh)
-I like to run.
-I have a cute lil' pup named Scout. So I obviously say "Peace out, boy Scout" all. the. time.
-I LOVE puns.
-I really like making ironic duck face peace sign faces.
I make that face so much now that maybe it's not ironic anymore...
