Cardiac Costumes

Halloween.

When I was a wee one, I dressed up as your standard, run-of-the-mill Halloween characters. Let's be real: when you're 4 years old, you can pretty much dress up in a potato sack and still look adorable.

Dawwww
Angel with an attitude.
(Was I cute, or was I cute?)

Now that I no longer have the "cute-in-anything" factor working for me, I have to be a lot more creative with my costume choices. (Side note: sexy ___nurse/cat/fill in the blank___ isn't ever cute in my book. That's just trashy.)

If you know me at all, you know that I am a huge fan of puns and plays on words. I love having pun battles with my friends (like rap battles, but way cooler). As such, I like my Halloween costumes to reflect my witty side. This year, I want my costume to correspond with heart-related humor. My brain is chalk-full of puns and such, but there are a lot less options when you're trying to portray those jokes in a costume.

Here's a list of a few ideas I've come up with so far.

Cardiac Arrest
  • Red / white clothes
  • Heart-themed accessories
  • Handcuffs
  • "Arrest" people with the cuffs. Get it? Heh heh.
Heart Attack
  • Red/white clothes
  • Cut out a bunch of paper hearts
  • Throw hearts at people when they ask you what you are
Queen of Hearts
  • Dress up like the infamous villain from Alice in Wonderland, but replace cartoon hearts with anatomically-correct hearts
Bleeding Heart
  • Red clothes
  • Lots of fake blood
Any other suggestions? I'm looking for something cheap and witty. I can heart-ly wait to read your ideas!

  1. haha, the heart attack idea is awesome! (my patients might not think it's funny...we'll see. I have to work halloween!) and i LOVE anything that has anatomically correct hearts. :) I love your ideas (mostly because I've been working with hearts for the last 3 years and I'm a nerd!)
for a group costume, you could have everyone dress up in green and you'd be 'gangrene' (gang-green) :)
I'm curious which costume you'll choose!
