Back at it Again with the Heart Posts

HEY WORLD! Here I am, back at it again with the heart blog!

I've been doing a lot of thinking and writing lately, mostly surrounding the reach and aim of this blog. I knew for a while that I didn't want to make the blog all about me. Well I guess the blog is, inherently, about me. What I mean to say is this: I want to use this blog to reach out to families and loved ones, to patients, to health care teams,  to student nurses who are interested in working in critical care.

I know these are very lofty goals, but we'll get there, friends!

Ideas:

1. I want keep writing about things that are happening in my life, from the wwowowow amazing stuff, to the "can this day just be over yet" days, to the tiny moments where your soul feels a little lighter. Since this blog is 5 (!!!!!) years old, a lot of stuff has happened in between those bajillion days in between. Life changes. Social life, or lack thereof, changes. I've noticed slight changes in personality (like how I try to include an "I really appreciate it", instead of a "thanks". On a similar but less productive note, I've noticed that I definitely answered calls from my personal phone saying CICUthisisMAYA. Whoops.

2. I would love to hear your own stories. I want to hear about more of you! Who are you, what interests you about my blog/my story?  What else would you like to see on this blog? Can you tell us a little about your interest in cardiology, or critical care, or anything else? I'd love to know more about you, and share a little slice of your life with our (W)holehearted community.

3. I want to post more YouTube videos surrounding aspects of being a heart patient, dealing with CHD, working as a CICU nurse, and everything in between (how to sleep when you're working night shifts, how to communicate with a patient whose primary language isn't English, how to avoid taking work home with you, etc)

So, please stay tuned! My next post will most likely be a link to SurveyMonkey, where you can tell me a little bit more of who you are and what (W)holehearted means to you.

Peace,

Maya, BSN, RN
